Shadowboard
Shadowboard is an at-the-table tracking tool for GMs running the Shadowdark role-playing game. It's intended to run on an iPad or laptop you keep handy throughout play and helps you keep track of several things:
- Who's carrying light? focusing? dying?
- How much time is left on those torches?
- How many rounds left on that spell or other effect?
- Is it time to roll for a random encounter?
Game state is saved to Local Storage (i.e., in your browser). You can export/import game data to/from your clipboard (as JSON) and save it in a text file if you want to juggle multiple games or move from one browser to another (or between the itch-hosted version and the copy hosted at https://www.duelinmarkers.com/shadowboard/).
Instructions
- Set up PCs in the order their players are sitting around the table.
- Hit "Done Editing".
- As play progresses, hit "Next Turn".
- If an initiative-roll means the turn jumps to someone else, use their ☝️ button to move to their turn.
- When someone lights a torch or casts Light, hit their 🔥 button to start the light-timer.
- When someone casts a spell requiring focus, hit their 💭 button to remind you to ask for focus checks on their turn.
- When someone casts a spell or some other effect occurs that lasts a certain number of rounds, start a round timer with a ⏲️ button, adding rounds as needed.
- When someone drops to zero HP, hit their 💀 button to show they're dying. Then on their turn, add a round-timer (⏲️) to track their dying rounds.
- On your (GM) turn, if the 🎲 is lit, roll for a random encounter. Adjust risk-level as needed.
